[mso] Outlook Express

E-mail notification only makes a soft "ink" when mail arrives. I have gone
into control panel - sounds and audio devices and checked that the microphone
symbol is next to mail notification. In Outlook Express I have checked play
sound when email arrives. I have even tried to put a different sound in
control panel - sounds and audio. I opened the control panel with Outlook
Express closed, as directions said. Done about everything I can think. Other
sounds work well when I close programs etc. Anyone else having the email
notification problem???? Oh, I even went in to "repair" OutLook Express" as
well as deleting it and reinstalling. Still only get a weak "eek" sound when
mail arrives. When I was using Incredimail I could hear the notification from
a different room. With Outlook and Outlook Express the sound notification is
worthless.
I hope someone has some idea how come it isn't working.
