Further to Linda's link below...here's one that specifically shows the
various vulnerabilities in each version:

Ok Tina...let me take these one at a time...first of all, yes, Outlook's
preview pane is almost as dangerous as OE except it doesn't
automatically launch attachments like OE...but it will activate scripts
within an email.....and there is an add in for Outlook that will convert
all your mail to plain text, but are you sure you want that? Don't you
get Lockergnome? If so, I would think something like that would be
almost unreadable in plain text...but here's the link if you want to try
it:
http://ntbugtraq.ntadvice.com/

Now...about turning off the preview pane....you can turn it off as the
default for all NEW folders, but you need to change the setting for all
existing folders one at a time. And you don't do it by simply going to
the View menu and unchecking Preview Pane...you have to customize the
view for all your existing folders...but only once...and this will now
be the default for your new folders.

Go to the View menu and click on Current View.....see which View is
checked...Probably "Messages".....then go to Customize Current
View....Now click on the Other Settings button, then remove the check
from Preview Pane

Now, go into each folder, go to View> Current View and do the same. This
will stick, but you need to go into each folder once. But, this view
will now be applied to all new folders. That's the best I can tell you.

To see the full header of an email (if that's what you mean by message
source?)...if you open an email, go to the View menu and click on
Options....you will see the header info in there.

Let me know if any of this is unclear.

Linda....

I know you keep telling me that I can turn off preview for a folder then
afterwards the preview pane will be closed for all files in that folder
- I had a look and that is so, that's great but that's not my exact
problem.
