Perhaps some of us lost the forest in the trees. Preview is a security problem of (for me at least ) unknown importance. Let me explain how I use my Outlook e-mail. I have my main inbox folder. It catches all of my e-mail messages initially, but I have rules that specify automatic disposition of some kinds of the messages that come into the inbox (by the contents of the subject line). I like to get my inbox messages from my hi-volume sources (such as this mso list) segregated into sub-folders. So I have set up sub-folders such as MSO-IN. Why do I segregate them? I find it easier to examine threads and delete selectively or en-mass messages of no interest When I go through my mail in the MSO-IN folder, I will read it and either leave it in MSO-IN as read, or delete it, or I will move it out to some other folder such as my MSO folder, or to some subfolder of the MSO folder such as MSO-Linda subfolder. I presume that, for safety sake, my top level Inbox folder should NOT employ preview. Probably my subfolders that contain messages that were processed automatically from the inbox by rules, such as my MSO-IN should NOT employ preview since theoretically it would be possible for a bad guy to spoof my rule by placing "[MSO]" in the subject line of a message with a dangerous payload. I might, however, take that chance, or I might tighten up my rules to look at other than just the subject line. In any case messages that I have already personally read and moved to storage in other subfolders can be considered safe ( am I correct?). In any of the "safe" subfolders preview could be safely used. (am I correct ?) It's a common thing in this group. Many people confuse Outlook and Outlook Express, and as we are all seeing, they are very different. And, Welcome to the group!
