I'm not sure which "anchor" you are referring to, Graham ... But you can turn off Object anchors in Print Layout and Web Layout views by going to Tools>Options and clicking on the View tab. The one I can't stand is the Drawing Canvas ... I see absolutely NO need for it and it is always in my way, so I always have that one turned off ... To do that, go to Tools>Options and click on the General tab; remove the check from "Always create drawing canvas when inserting Autoshapes". ++++++++++++++++++ Linda F.
