Although if he didn't CREATE a restore point just before that fiddling...he
could restore it back too far, if he has a restore at all, and cause a
bigger mess in many more apps!

Have you tried System Restore to take you back to before the point when
you created the additional profile? This would be a good starting point.

Subject: [mso] I'm unable to download/send messages in Outlook 2003.

Good evening:
I believe I may have done the ultimate in making Outlook mad.

This started when I attempted to create another profile within Outlook to
keep messages/calendars, etc separate according to the task. (Basically,
I wanted one for me, and one for work purposes).

Upon logging int my original profile last night, I was able to download
messages only one time. After the download was complete, I could no
longer download messages. The send/receive button was visible, however,
Outlook was unresponsive when trying to complete this task. The only
solution was to close Outlook, re-open, and then allow it to download.

So, in my wisdom, I deleted the second profile (as there wasn't much
pertinent information that I actually needed). This did not cure the
problem.

I then decided to attempt a Detect and Repair from the help menu. This
seemed to operate smoothly... Except, now, when Outlook opens it attempts
to send/receive messages as I have configured it to do when the
application is opened, and every 60 minutes thereafter... The twist is
that the send/receive button completely disappears! The button is visible
for a few seconds until Outlook attempts this automatic send/receive, at
which time it vanishes.

I opened the message editor to attempt to send a new message. The "send"
button is no longer there...

Then, I un-installed the entire Office 2003 Professional package, and then
re-installed. This still has not cured the problem.

I did log into another Windows profile and attempted to send/receive from
Outlook, and the operation went perfectly...

Basically, I'm looking to see if anyone has any advice in how to cure this
in my current profile. I've moved everything from my Inbox into my
personal folders and have backed up the PST incase I torque things that
much further. I can export my contacts; however, I'm worried about losing
my message filters. They are quite complex and very extensive and I'm
certainly not looking forward to re-creating them.

If someone can PLEASE offer some type of advice in preserving this as I
delete the long-standing Outlook profile, I would forever be greatful!
Hopefully, there is something I can do in order to prevent this drastic
step... I'm open to all suggestions at this point.

Thanks again for looking this over and any advice that you can offer.
