If you like the tracked changes on screen, but don't want to print them, 
then that's possible too.  This from

which is actually telling you how to turn it on, but it should be easy 
enough to find the opposite for any version of Word.

"Word 2002 and 2003: File > Print. In the "Print What" box, choose Document 
showing Markup.

"Word 2007: Round Office button > Print. In the "Print What" box, choose 
"Document showing markup".

"Word 2010: File > Print. Under Settings, click the first button (that 
probably says 'Print All Pages'). On the subsequent menu, choose 'Print 
Markup'."
