Well... Yeah, to a point.
You can still make presentations compatible with pre-2002 versions, and
there are some other nice features in 2002 that don't impact on the
version using it.
Seem to me that a lot of people built the presentations and show them
all on the same the machine, so it isn't an issue.

In my situation, all the machines I work with have 2002...

But I agree, that it's incredibly slack of MS not to release a viewer...
