Okay, so its counting the non blank cells.  That I
understand.  But I don't understand what the 2 is for?  It
adds one to the total if I put 2 in the formula.  )Or 2453.
Or it adds one for pretty much anything I put in the formula
after comma.    So what would you use this for?

Hi Lisa, and Linda,
in the Excel Help example, =COUNT(A1:A7, 2) means that you
want to count 
how many numbers are in the cells of array A1:A7, plus the
number 2 which 
is the second argument. Array A1:A7, in the example given,
contains 3 
numbers, in cells A2, A4 and A5 (check that =COUNT(A1:A7) is
given as 3 in 
the same example). Plus the number 2, you get 4 numbers.
