Well, I'm glad the restore got you back to where you were. Now, back to
your problem. You originally said you had this problem doing Exercise 6-12,
which uses the AUTO filter ... now you say you are having a problem with the
ADVANCED filter ... maybe that's your problem .. for that exercise, be sure
to use the AUTO filter ... not the ADVANCED filter.

And yes, Detect and Repair does require the CD.

Good luck.

You guys probably are already of aware of this, but I had been having a
problem with Advanced Filter and tried to use Excel's detect and repair to
see if that was the problem and it caused a nightmare for me. When I hit
detect and repair it started trying to redownload Microsoft Office and then
ask for a CD and of course I could not find the back up CD that came with my
computer, when I hit cancel I was no longer able to get into Excel at all.
So finally after talking to a lot of tech support, I was able to do a system
restore and got it working again. Just thought I would let you guys know in
case anyone else ever had an issue like this.
