Hi Ray....I don't *believe* Detect and Repair creates a log file...but I guess I could be wrong...but I've never seen or heard of one And I can't really "confirm" that that is an omission from the Help files....I have run Detect & Repair a few times and haven't really seen much change in my Office programs, except that many times, the problem I was having in one of them was fixed. Sorry...wish I could give you more info but I can't. That led me to read about it, and I see a mismatch between what Help says and what the option itself offers. Help says, "Choosing this option will discard many of your customized settings and restore default settings", but the option includes a checkbox that appears to allow the user to opt out of resetting all the defaults. I ran D & R with the "discard customized settings" unchecked, and I am happy to report that very few changes (of any kind) are apparent. It did substitute Outlook for Outlook Express and it enabled instant messaging, but all my other stuff is still intact. Please confirm that this is an omission in the Help info. I'm a little disappointed that D & R didn't provide feedback such as a log file or other message to tell me what it did change. Is there an option to allow viewing changes? When it completed, it did tell me that it was successful. I just don't know in detail what it was successful in doing. Thanks for mentioning D & R.
