Well..the only thing I know of that puts things in brackets are bookmarks.
Do you have bookmarks there?  If you go back to Tools>Options and click on
the View tab, is bookmarks checked?  If so, uncheck that and see if the
brackets go away.

Otherwise I don't know...I saw this in the Word newsgroups and I think it
sounds like what you are seeing...but I don't see a solution anywhere...is
this close to what you are talking about?

Sounds like a could be another Forms bug that Dian can take to the summit

Nope...hitting alt + F9 displays the words "formcheckbox" inside of French
brackets.
