Hi Linda - thanks for the link to the file in SmartGroups. In my case, I
need to calculate elapsed time in decimals of an hour but sometimes, the
time in is on Friday night and the time out is on Saturday morning
(restaurant staff). An example would be:
In: 2215 (we use military time) Out 0315 (next day).
I tried the file instructions on a simple one of In 1640 Out 2215 but
didn't get an answer, only ### which maximizing the column didn't correct.
What am I doing wrong? Dianne

Also...there's a good article on time formats in Excel in our
SmartGroups file section. It's in the Excel folder and it's called
Tip_Excel_Time_Calculations.doc

It explains a lot and I think anyone who wants to learn more about time
in Excel, should read it.

Gary - are you looking for your results to be shown in decimals of an
hour?
I have a set-up to do just that but it wasn't easy. Involves a large
lookup
table on a separate sheet but if you're interested, I could send it to
you
privately for you to look at. Dianne
