Ok. Are you sure you are entering the parameters correctly in the Advanced
Filter box?

Here's an example:

Lets say the data is in cells A1 to F10 and you want to remove the
duplicates and create a new list starting in A12....

Highlight A1:F10
Go to Data>Filter>Advanced Filter
Select Copy to another location
Click your mouse inside the box that says "Copy To", then simply click
inside cell A12 and the copy to box will be filled in automatically and
should say something like Sheet1$A$12
Then put a check in the box that says unique records only and click OK.

Is this clearer? Yes, the range has to be on the same sheet.

Thank you, Linda.

I'm still stuck though... maybe I'm stupid:-)

I tried that and it says "you can only copy filtered data into the active=20
sheet". If I try to NOT copy to a different location, it says nothing but=20
does not remove the duplicate rows. And when I try to copy to a different=20
location in the same -active- sheet, it says "incorrect data transfer".=20
(These are my translation of the messages 'cause my XL is in french,=20
version Office 97 at work and Office 2K here at home).
I think I should enter some filtering criterias but what can I use to just=
=20
say "everything" ?

Suggestions anyone ?

Tia
