[mso] Alphabetical order

I have an iMac. OS 10.3.8 and use Microsoft Office:mac 2004 Student and
Teacher Edition.
If I have a nominal role of some 60 plus names, how to I arrange then
in alphabetical order ?
I had no trouble in using AppleWorks, but seem unable to use this basic
method.
Edit menu > Sort selected Paragraphs > Select the Sorting Order > Sort.
The information supplied from my new programme seems to make no
reference to this problem.
