Glenda,

When you are working in a query you can add anything you would like into a
new field. The : tells Access that you are creating a new field. The part
before it is the name of the field, the part after is what you would like in
the field. Therefore all of the following work in this manner:

TotalSale: [Quantity]*[Price]
MemberName: [FirstName] & " " & [LastName]
JoinMe:1
CreatedBy: "Glenda Wells"

In each case the new field will be created in the query and the appropriate
data displayed. Just remember to use your quotes for strings. If you don't
use quotes, Access will assume you are referring to field names.

Please help. I'm having complete brain fade.

In Access you can enter a field like this Number:1 with the result being
that every row has a number 1.

Is there a way to do the same thing so the result for each row is an alpha
character?

Thanks. /gl
