Jim- All the versions work the same, but there are differences. Basically it come down to different versions of the underlying database engine and how the database engine is accessed. All the versions of Access use JET as the engine. To work with JET, 97 uses DAO, 2000 and 2002 use ADO. DAO and ADO are very different, but essentially do the same thing. 2000 and 2002 provide support for connecting to SQL server, 97 does not, but it can be done. You can convert up a version but cannot convert backward. 97 has great help files, the others don't. There are known issues with all the versions, but nothing that should stop you from using any of them. This is the most common one with 2000 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q263245 If you are doing basic tables/relationships/queries any of the versions will work fine. If you get into programming the database with VBA then these things will matter more. -Anthony -----Original Message----- From: Jim [mailto:n1jmm@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, September 18, 2002 9:45 PM To: mso Subject: [mso] ACCESS Difference ?
