The best place for Outlook info is Slipstick www.slipstick.com

But I will try to answer some of your questions here...and welcom to the
list, Ess:

1. Outlook doesn't have the same option as AOL where the highlighted
text is automatically quoted when you reply...you have to copy/paste it
manually.

2. to keep Outlook from dialing in automatically, go to Tools>Options
and click on the mail format tab. This is done differently, depending
on which version of Outlook you have, but it's in there...there are two
settings...one for telling Outlook to automatically send when you are
connected and the other for telling Outlook to send messages every so
often...you need to uncheck both of these to stop this...if you can't
find it, let us know which version of Outlook you have and we will tell
you....and it's NOT the tools>options inside a mail, you need to go to
your inbox and click on tools>options from there.

3. As far as Inbox Assistant and Out of Office Assistant...these are
only available in the Corporate/Workgroup version of Outlook using
Exchange Server. If you are at home using the Internet Version, go to
Tools>Rules Wizard and set up your rules from there.

4. The reason you are seeing that junk is you are using Outlook Rich
Text which is only compatible with Outlook and no other email programs.
If you want plain text as your default, go to Tools>Options and click on
the mail format tab in there. You can choose Plain text from there.

5. To set up your mail to download every so many minutes, you need to
follow the steps I have you in number 2 above, but that seems
counterproductive since you say you don't want outlook to connect
automatically...if you do this, it will. So, you need to decide which
you want.

6. Again, to get it to send automatically, follow steps in number 2.

Good luck...if any of this isn't working for you, please go to the Help
menu in Outlook and click on About Microsoft Outlook and tell us EXACTLY
what version it says you have in there.

Also, this group accepts plain text only...so whatever you added to the
bottom of your mail did not come thru...I'm assuming you tried to
forward something from AOL and AOL turns all forwards sent to the rest
of the world into attachments, and freelists doesn't allow attachments,
so you will have to copy/paste it into a new mail for us to see it.

Subject: [mso] 1st day of class in Outlook kindergarten

Greetings to all.

I'm new to this list and to Outlook. I'm in the process of finally
quitting AOL and have now set up three different email programs. I
think
Outlook will be the one I stay with.
