Hi all, so sorry to hear the latest on Tony, I can't believe U of M would release him in such a condition.  Aimee and I are definatly keeping them in our thought and prayers.

Take care all:

John

What Linda and Tony are going through is horrible.

They really need help.  Yes, Tony needs to be in a rehab facility.  Is that possible?

We're home, but it's not going well. He's basically an invalid, & what he demonstrated at the hospital is not happening here at home. Humana won't cover in home PT & OT. His out patient services don't begin til January 30th. I could barely get him into the condo. He can't get up off a chair, the couch or get in & out of bed. I'm so exhausted from no sleep, & not enough food, that I'm down to 104 lbs, with cloths on. I also caught a sore throat, cough & runny nose a few days ago, even though I wore a mask 24/7, and am very weak. I was able to be very proactive in his care at the hospital, because they have the equipment. I have a deluxe walker with brakes & a seat, that he used when he broke his leg. But he can't use it now. Even with the breaks on, it scoots away from him, making it dangerous. I feel he needs to go to a rehab facility, where they have equipment & trained staff to care for him & provide PT & OT services. He can't stand up on his own without leaning back & nearly falling. I'm having a major anxiety attack over this, and I'm starting to shut down physically & cognitively, as they've given me so much responsibility with being in charge of his meds, & making sure he takes them at just the right time. I made him Mac & cheese with our Christmas ham, & he hardly ate any of it. I'm in charge of weighing him, taking his temp, BP, as well as charting them. We have to go back for clinic on Monday at 8 AM, for labs & meeting with the transplant team. Then they are supposed to take out his dialysis catheter afterwards. I don't know how I'll take him for all that, if he can't walk. He's in bed sleeping, but I'm afraid to fall asleep my self, in case he wakes & tries to get up. I have a urinal for him to pee in, so he doesn't get up. I can't think straight from lack of sleep, & now this upper respiratory deal going on. No Covid symptoms though. That's it for now. Sorry the report wasn't great. I'm praying over it for a better day tomorrow.🙏🙏 Thanks everyone for your out pouring of love, prayers & support.

Praise the Lord. Tell Tony and Linda to set an alarm on the phone for meds. Just to be safe. As a reminder. I do this myself.

Always know that Jesus loves you.

    Tony Update:

    I seriously hope this picture will be a s cenario coming up soon;
Tony back home, recovering. Today they took out Tony's drainage
tubes. The dietitian from the kidney transplant team came by with
nutrition information. There are some things he'll have to give
up, such as medium rare prime rib, & eggs over easy. No pink in
the meat, nor runny yolks in eggs. Bacteria that isn't harmful to
us, such as sushi or under cooked meat, eggs, animal products in
general, are very dangerous for Tony, because the anti-rejection
drugs that suppress his immune system. But now he's happy to learn
that he must drink no less than 2 liters of non-diruretic fluids a
day. On dialysis, he was only allowed 48 OZs per day. He now needs
high phosphorus food s, where before, he had to take phosphorus
binders & eat low phosphorus foods. His nurse went through his new
medication schedule, as the anti-rejection drugs need to be taken
at precise times every day for the rest of his life. We were also
told that he'll be discharged from U of M hospi tal tomorrow!!
Best news since he got word, there was a kidney available. We're
so grateful to all of you for your thoughts, prayers, we'll
wishes, good vibes, & encouraging words of support. Thank you all
from the bottom of our hearts💕

Vickie’s Note: As of Thursday, 6:30PM Arizona time, haven’t
heard whether he was released.  I called earlier and asked for the
nurse’s station first, in case Tony was sleeping. They were
sleeping, or the room was dark, so couldn’t speak with them.
Also, nurse’s station said they a gain didn’t have permission
for me to discuss Tony with them.  So, once again in the dark
until Linda puts something out on facebook. They don’t have
their cell phones turned on inside the hospital.
