These band things sounded fun! I played flute but the band fell apart by the time I got to high school. I remember going by the practice rooms hearing various honkings, grunts and a lot of other interesting noises! Made a few myself when I played cornet. I arrived at MSB in 69 and left in 81. In the mid 70's the mainstreaming thing killed the school programs. I was lucky enough to have learned to play flute, piano and sort of cornet. But not lucky enough to have played in the band. I played in the orchestra and was a bell ringer though. I remember goofing off in bell ringers trying to get one past Mr. Chard. One time he kicked me out in the hall. I took my bell with me and played my part out there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim in Detroit" <james.prather@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <msb-alumni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, April 03, 2014 5:52 AM Subject: [msb-alumni] Marching Band was Re: Re: BandPeggy, did you play in the marching band? I would have liked to have heard the marching band in person, but it ceased to exist before I got there.-----Original Message----- From: Marcia MosesSent: April 02, 2014 15:03 To: msb-alumni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [msb-alumni] Re: Band Peggy, I sort of remember when the strap came off the cymbal at the 1969 graduation, it made one hell of a noise! Sorry it cut your foot. They were pretty heavy. I rememberwhen the class of 1969 was graduating and of course, the band played a couple of numbers it the ceremony and I remember I had a cymbol solo partwhich only lasted a couple of seconds but when I went to raise the cymbolsto bring them together, one of the straps came undone and of course, thecrazy thing fell to the floor with an awful crash and cut my foot. Man did that thing hurt too and oh yes, it bled a little too. . I don't think I'llever forget that.
