Servant of God John of Monte Corvino (1247-1328)

At a time when the Church was heavily embroiled in nationalistic rivalries
within Europe, it was also reaching across Asia to spread the gospel of
Jesus Christ to the Mongols. John of Monte Corvino went to China about the
same time Marco Polo was returning. For more, click the link below:

People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world,
for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great
glory. But when these signs begin to happen,
stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand." ~Luke
21:20-28

Once again, as we near the end of the old Church year, we hear about end
time. We can be uncomfortable about things we don't know much about, and
even more uncomfortable when we know more. As we hear in the Gospel, " ...
stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand."

I pray that I may wait in joyful hope for the time when Jesus comes again.
I pray that I may live with my life in order, knowing that this day is all I
can be sure I'll have. I can raise my head and be ready to welcome the Lord
who comes to save me!

We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We
pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at
home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage
and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who
have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a
good day!

May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

Father Pat

"Be still and know that I am God." ~Psalm 46:10

Newly written each day by Father Pat Umberger. Morning Prayer may not be
published by others, but is a good resource for preachers and those who attend
Daily Mass, and those who would like to keep up with the Lectionary Readings
and are not always able to attend Daily Mass.
