I am the publisher of Show-Me Missouri magazine and a member of the Kennett
Lions Club located in the Missouri Bootheel. This year marks the centennial of
Lions Club International, and to commemorate it, five Lions Clubs in Nodaway
County have combined their resources to bring a Freedom Rock to their area. The
Freedom Rock, an idea developed by Ray Sorensen of Greenfield, IA, honors
American veterans and military personnel with a unique patriotic theme painted
on a huge rock. Show-Me Missouri will feature the Nodaway Freedom Rock, as
well as another one being painted in Cape Girardeau, in our Summer issue, which
will hit stands in mid-May.
Are any other clubs in Missouri sponsoring a Lions Centennial Legacy Service
Project? If your club is also sponsoring a centennial project, please email me
so that we can include it in a sidebar article that will accompany the main
article. Rather than replying to this email and bombarding the list recipients,
email me directly at gfiggins@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Include the name of the club
and a short description of the project. We will need all information by March
20.
Thank you for your help.
