Hi there all,

I'm currently looking for some sleepers for laying s length of 5" gauge
test track on.

I note that the Miniature Railway Supply company...

...have 1"*1"*10" hardwood sleepers at 45 pence each plus VAT.

PNP plastics...

...have plastic sleepers at 53 pence including VAT (plus 10 pence per
chair).

I tried Ridgeons for hardwood, which works out about the same cost
(possibly even more expensive) than buying from the Miniature Railway
Supply company.

Now I had been under the impression that all our model engineering
suppliers tried to rip us off to a certain extent (certain company
supplying bearings at 40 pounds per set, when you can now get them with
free complimentary skate board in Tesco's for a fiver springs to mind).

In this case though, am I right to think that 45 pence per sleeper plus
VAT is the right way to go?

Any thoughts anyone?

Yours,

Rich.
PS Have tried to find a real woodyard, but have come across none nearby
whose policy isn't to only supply softwood.
