A bit late this one but maybe helpful for the London shows.
The graver is a very handy tool for example for cutting fold lines so that
when you fold up plate you get a tight corner.
Getting good 'uns is a real bore. You can pay top dollar and then get a
graver which is too long as they make them oversize presumably so that it is
long enough for Goliath. Then you have a couple of hours faffing around
making it shorter and then getting it hard and it never seems to have quite
so good a temper or cutting angle as before you played around with it.
Anyway at Donington I bought a cheap set of 6 gravers for the price I
normally pay for one from Proops. Just tried them out and they are just
perfect. I've a slightly small and long fingered hand (if only what the
Japanese say were true!) so maybe no good for the guys with gorilla paws but
I can recommend that you try them for size next time.
I've no connection with Proops (but more than happy to become your expensive
mouthpiece if you are reading this Mr P).
