sorry to stick my nose in, but could you tell me witch verssion of the motif 
these instructions are for?? I have the x s 7 and I was not even aware that you 
could save a sequence as an mp3 or wave file to an external storage device like 
a stick.

  No problem, here are the steps:

  1. Select the desired voice, performance, song or patern to be exported as 
audio format. Remember, you can play something on the keyboard, even alternate 
among parts, or select a sequenced song and press play during the audio export 
process.
  2. Press file then F4 [audio].
  3. Set the destination if desired.
  4. Press SF1 [rec].
  5. Input a name if desired. The name can contain upto 20 characters.
  6. Press the enter button and you will be taken to the standby display.
  7. If you haven't touched the trigger level setting, press the enter button 
to start recording.
  8. Press enter when you're finished. The captured audio will be saved to the 
external storage device as a Wave Audio format.

  Note: In case you're about to overwrite an existing file on your device after 
executing step5 above, you'll be asked for confirmation. Simply press inc/yes 
and then you'll be taken to the standby display.
