O, nvm, I'm not too sure as I don't own an xs, but it might come with some
onboard ram, I know the es didn't. I do think the xs supports upto 1gb of
ram... Maybe somebody on list can give more details, but you might want to
check how much you have in there now...

It was a demo unit and came preloaded with whatever memory it has in it. but
if 512mb is the max, then it would start running out of memory about 48
minutes into the recording, that's assuming the thing does not use any of it
for OS, so if you take off 128mb and say have about 384mb ram you get about
36 minutes.

It's the xs8.

I'm assuming you have the es? Do you have it maxed out at 512mb? If you're
sampling then yes it does definitely depend on how much ram you have
installed. Also on what sample rate you're using, I think the manual gives
a list of how much you can record and at what sample rates with various
memory sizes. What kind of ram did you put in it? Sometimes low
quality/incompatible ram can have undesired effects, just a like on a
computer (which is in a way what the motif is...)

Yes, from what i read about in the ES's manual, (this might still apply to
the xs), you can only record depending on how much ram you have installed.
Don't think there's a way around it...

"Hi,

Does this store your audio in the board's memory, then dump to the drive at
the end? (after about 29 minutes of recording, the file ended unexpectedly
when I played it back and there was plenty of room on the drive)

Is there any way around this?

_J"

The suplementary documentation tells you can record upto 74 minuts of audio
data, assuming that your connected device or network computer has suficient
memory.

The save to disk operation occurs only after you press enter when is
finished.
