This afternoon at 4:30 I saw what I think were 7 limpkins. The first time
I saw them in this spot there were only two. They have the heavy curved
bill and are feeding on what looked like crustaceans. Since I have been
unsure of identification I have hesitated to put it on Missbird but I have
revisited Sibleys three times in the last week or so. They were located in
Bolivar county northwest of Scott . If you go to where Eutaw road hits the
levee and go South past the entrance to Catfish Point there is a borrow pit
that is drying up about 3/8 of a mile down. You will know the right one by
all of the Asian carp that are dead all around the water. The limpkins have
been somewhere around the water, sometimes over in the shade. I hope
someone goes to look and says yea or nay.
