the fastest mirror sites.

You may automatically resume broken downloads if your connection
is lost or if your computer accidently shuts down.
With the scheduler, you may download files at certain times of the
day.
Star Downloader may also automatically connect to your ISP and
hangup upon completion of downloads.

An integrated unzipping utility can automatically unzip and
install downloaded files.
Star Downloader also integrates with your antivirus program to
automatically scan files upon completion of the download.

DiamondCS TaskMan+ v1.3
http://www.diamondcs.com.au/web/htm/taskman.htm
Give your Task Manager the license to kill any process.

Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 2000 ship with a handy system
analysis utility called Task Manager.
One of Task Managers many abilities is that it can list all
running processes.
However, there is a downside - Task Managers "End Process" feature
isn't always able to kill a process for you!
This isn't just frustrating, it also poses a security problem -
what if the process you want to kill is a trojan?

Tina's FrontPage Tips, by Tina Clarke

To Create a Verified Hyperlink

Creating a verified hyperlink is the most accurate way of
doing so because you actually visit the page the hyperlink
will point to.
1 Type AnyFrontPage and then press ENTER.
2 Holding down the left mouse button, drag the mouse over
the words you just typed to select them.
3 On the Insert menu, choose Hyperlink.
The Create Hyperlink dialog box is displayed.
4 In the Create Hyperlink dialog box, click the World
Wide Web button.
5 FrontPage launches your Web browser.
When you visit the page that the hyperlink should point to
and then switch back to FrontPage, the URL field will
contain the address of the target page.
6 In your Web browser's Address (or Location) field, type
http://anyfrontpage.com for example and then press ENTER.
The Web browser displays the AnyFrontPage.com home page,
where you can learn more about FrontPage via a the FrontPage
Ezine, and find solutions to common questions at the forums.
7 On your keyboard, press ALT+TAB (or click the FrontPage
icon in the Windows task bar) to switch back to the

into the URL field in the Create Hyperlink dialog box.

Win 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
Email couldn't get much more fun than this.
This comprehensive email client is great fun to use, and being
similar in layout to Outlook Express it takes minutes to become
familiar with.
On top of standard features you get loads of groovy extras, such
as 3D animated menus and a plethora of images and effects that can
be added to outgoing emails.

Add images and animations to emails, along with backgrounds,
sounds and special fonts. Combine these features to create unique
emails that reflect both your personality and mood.

One very nice feature is that handwritten signatures can be added
to emails for that truly personal touch.

Backng Up Your Registry
Todays Registry tip will explain in detail how to backup the
registry per operating system. When making Any registry edits it
is advisable to backup your registry First before even
considering looking at the registry let alone what you are
considering changing. If you do not back up before making
registry changes you may risk Windows becoming inoperable if you
change/edit the wrong thing by mistake. We do not want to scare
anyone away from learning about the registry but it must be
understood that mistakes can happen and you should be prepared
just in case.

We will with every registry tip include a reminder to backup
before changing anything and provide links to detailed registry
backup information so no one will have to worry about forgetting
or misplacing the information. The registry information below
is comprised of information borrowed from many locations (help
files/ personal uses etc) If anyone believes some of the
information to be incomplete please let me know.

Windows 95/98/98SE

Manually backing up the Registry is only a matter of copying
system.dat and user.dat and saving them to a safe location (in
this instance we have used a folder called "backup"). By
default, dat files are hidden, so you must have Show All Files
enabled to find these files. To do that: In any folder, click
View->Options->View and then check Show All Files.

Restoring your Registry is as easy as Restarting your computer in
Real DOS and at the C:\> prompt, type the following commands,
pressing Enter after each one (in this example, your backed up
files are in C:\Windows\backup\)
attrib -h -s -r c:\windows\system.dat
attrib -h -s -r c:\windows\user.dat
attrib -h -s -r c:\windows\backup\*.dat
copy c:\windows\backup\system.dat c:\windows\system.dat /v /y
copy c:\windows\backup\user.dat c:\windows\user.dat /v /y
Once the files are copied restart the system.
~~
Windows ME

The main restore feature of Me is System Restore which
automatically monitors and records changes made to essential
Windows system files including the registry. If your system
becomes corrupt, System Restore allows you to undo a change that
caused instability in your system. To use, Click
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools, and then click System
Restore. Click Restore my computer to an earlier time and click
Next. In the calendar that appears choose which Restore Point
to return your system back to and click Next. You will then be
prompted to close all programs and reboot. On restart, a
confirmation screen appears. Click OK to continue using your
computer. The next time you start System Restore, you will see a
third option, Undo my last restoration. This is available in the
event that the Restore Point you rolled back to does not correct
the original problem that you were having and so you can easily
get back to the point in time that you started troubleshooting.

Windows 2000

Windows 2000 has its own backup utility for backing up the
Registry. It is located in the the System Tools menu. When you
started you will see a selection "System State", under My
Computer. The System State is a collection of system specific
data that includes the Registry. Simply select Registry and
click the Start Backup button. To restore the Win2K Registry,
start the Backup utility, select the Restore tab, choose the
backup media, and then select the System State check box. Note
that this not only restores the Registry, but all of the System
State data.

An alternative method of restoring the Registry in Windows 2000
and Windows NT is to reboot your system and when you see the
Please Select the Operating System to Start message, press F8 and
then use arrow keys to select the Last Known Good Configuration
option and press Enter. This instantly restores the most recent
copy of the Registry.
~~~~~
Windows XP
Creating a backup/restore point in Windows XP,  NOTE : You must
have administrative rights on your computer to back up files and
folders. Click Start , point to All Programs , point to
Accessories , point to System Tools , and then click Backup .
After the Backup or Restore Wizard starts, click Advanced Mode .
NOTE : If the Backup and Restore Wizard does not start
automatically, click Backup Wizard on the Tools menu to back up
files.   Click the Backup tab.  Click New on the Job menu.
Select the System State check box.  In the Backup destination
list, click the backup destination that you want to use.   Click
Start Backup . The Backup Job Information dialog box appears,
select either append or replace.   Click Advanced . Select the
Verify data after backup check box. In the Backup Type box, click
the type of backup that you want. When you click a backup type, a
description of that backup type is displayed under "Description."
 Click OK , and then click Start Backup . A Backup Progress
dialog box appears, and the backup starts.  When the backup is
complete, click Close .
If for some reason after registry editing Windows XP does not
start, restart Windows by using the Last Known Good Configuration
feature:   Start the computer and then press the F8 key when
Windows begins to start. The Windows Advanced Options menu
appears.  Use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good
Configuration (your most recent settings that worked) , and then
press ENTER.   If a boot menu appears, use the ARROW keys to
select Microsoft Windows XP , and then press ENTER. Windows XP
restores the computer to the most recent restore point.
