When God Created Fathers ~ By Erma Bombeck
When the good Lord was creating fathers, He started with a tall
frame. And a female angel nearby said, "What kind of father is
that? If you?re going to make children so close to the ground,
why have you put fathers up so high? He won?t be able to shoot
marbles without kneeling, tuck a child in bed without bending, or
even kiss a child without a lot of stooping."
And God smiled and said, "Yes, but if I make him child size, who
would children have to look up to?"
And when God made a father?s hands, they were large and sinewy.
And the angel shook her head sadly and said, "Do You know what
You?re doing? Large hands are clumsy. They can?t manage diaper
pins, small buttons, rubber bands on pony tails or even remove
splinters caused by baseball bats."
God smiled and said, "I know, but they?re large enough to hold
everything a small boy empties from his pockets at the end of a
day?yet small enough to cup a child?s face."
Then God molded long, slim legs and broad shoulders.
The angel nearly had a heart attack. "Boy, this is the end of the
week, all right," she clucked. "Do You realize You just made a
father without a lap? How is he going to pull a child close to him
without the kid falling between his legs?"
God smiled and said, "A mother needs a lap. A father needs strong
shoulders to pull a sled, balance a boy on a bicycle or hold a
sleepy head on the way home from the circus."
God was in the middle of creating two of the largest feet anyone
had ever seen when the angel could contain herself no longer.
"That?s not fair. Do You honestly think those large boats are
going to dig out of bed early in the morning when the baby cries?
Or walk through a small birthday party without crushing at least
three of the guests?"
And God smiled and said, "They?ll work. You?ll see. They?ll
support a small child who wants to "ride a horse to Banbury Cross"
or scare off mice at the summer cabin, or display shoes that will
be a challenge to fill."
God worked throughout the night, giving the father few words, but
a firm authoritative voice; eyes that see everything, but remain
calm and tolerant.
Finally, almost as an afterthought, He added tears. Then He turned
to the angel and said, "Now are you satisfied that he can love as
much as a mother?"
And the angel shutteth up!

Hi Folks
If I did not try this ~ I would not believe it ~
W95 & W98 - W98SE - Upgrade your Defrag Utility to WME version
Now don't laugh - yes - I mean ME
This Sunday's local paper has a Tech Editor that submits regular
articles weekly. This week the article - subject above - caught
my
interest - as on many Computer Group forums - the defrag problem
has
many posts-ie: hangs/re-starts-won't complete-run in Safe Mode -
Run
ScanDisk first-close all programs-close anti-virus-close screen
savers
- etc etc.
So I went to his Web Site - and BTW has about a Thousand articles
-
going back years - about every conceivable computer
problem/program/you name it - it is there - with an excellent
search
function -

The article in question is the first on the list - Fix your
Windows
'defrag' program with this Microsoft
replacement
After reading - I D/L the file - I seemed to have a problem
placing in
the Windows Folder so I just placed a Shortcut to Desktop - (I did
re-name the existing file in windows to OLD as indicated to make
sure
there would be no confusion over which version to run - After
placing
on Desktop - I proceeded to RUN - the New Defrag.
Well It is hard to believe - I did not shut anything down - Ran in
Real Mode - not Safe Mode - I have not Defraged this HD since
installed aprox 9mo ago - have many files and programs 3.5GB worth
-
Yes I only Defragged C Drive - I have 5 partitions with 3
different OS
loaded -
Guess how long it took - All Night?- 6 Hrs - 3 Hrs - 1 Hr WRONG
Ready for this -- 15 Min.
Believe it - Try it yourself - Was it Smoke and Mirrors - You be
the
judge.
I would be interested in feedback on this. Sorry if I sound like
a
Salesman on this - but it was so surprising - I could not believe
it.
I started the program at 10:00pm thinking I would go to bed and in
the
morning it would be completed - as I said 15-20min tops COMPLETED
100%
And no - I am not selling anything -

If you've ever opened a virus infected attachment, loaded a new
application that makes your system go "screwy," or cleaned out the
Recycle Bin with your daughter's term paper in it, you know what
it means to want to "go back!"
Even if you make regular disk backups, they won't protect you from
the things that go wrong most of the time. Even the Windows System
Restore feature in ME and XP only monitors system files, not
personal documents, the recycle bin, or application files.
That's where GoBack comes in. It watches your entire hard drive,
and as changes are made, it tracks them, sector by sector, and
records periodic "Safe Points" to which you can restore your
system. GoBack restores not only Windows' system files, but your
data and application files. You can even restore files that you
cleaned out of the Recycle Bin.
There are two versions of GoBack available, the Personal Edition
and the Deluxe Edition. The Personal Edition of GoBack comes with
Norton SystemWorks 2002, and provides the basic drive restoration
ability of GoBack Deluxe, but lacks advanced features like the
ability to restore individual files, create a "GoBack" disk,
Auto-Revert, and Password protection.

Hover buttons not working
If your hover buttons don't work on the Web, chances are
good that you didn't upload the Java applet files to your
server. There are two files, fphover.class and
fphoverx.class, and they must be in a directory called
_fpclass within your root web.
However, do NOT put the HTML page that includes the buttons
in that directory.
You also need to have server extensions installed.
If you can?t see them at first check your hidden folders box
is ticked. Tools | Web settings | Advanced Tab | Make sure
the 'Show hidden files and folders? box is ticked. Press ok.
You will be asked to refresh the web.

GigAlarm is an alarm program, capable of almost 1 million
different alarms.
The alarm can be set by time/day, time/date or time delay.
The alarm can be either a wave file playing (random or selected),
a program/file running (also random or selected), changing the
background wallpaper, a window or various Windows shut down
options.
It has various other options including snooze control, variable
alarm cut off, repeating sounds, boot up alarms, countdown option
and more.
It requires approximately 70KB of hard drive space.

Military Time
A couple of readers have asked if it is possible to view the
Windows clock (in the tray) in military time. You know, "0800
hours". Just go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, and
double-click Regional Settings. Click the
Time tab and under Time Style, choose HH:mm:ss. Finally, click OK
to exit.
