Audacity will play through any sound card. I don't believe that it does
work with ASIO though. If ASIO is required, there is that ASIO4ALL program
(also free I believe) that might work. Audacity is a pretty sophisticated
tool with lots of plug-ins that come along with it also for free. One might
have to download and install the LAME MP3 encoders and decoders since they
aren't allowed to ship that with the program. Last I used Audacity,
however, there was a section of the Preferences where they gave direct links
to the latest versions and made it easy to download and install.

Thanks Pete,
Yes this could an option for her. Quite inexpensive.
I presume does audacity playback through your normal soundcard, or would she
need to purchase a card using asio?

I believe Audacity can change belie believe that the free Audacity program
can do that. Here is the manual page on changing pitch with and without
changing rate:
https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/change_pitch.html
Note: Audacity was made very accessible by folks using screen readers. It
has many hotkeys that can be used. One should do a search for something
like "Using Audacity with a screen reader". There used to be some excellent
documentation on using Audacity with a screen reader to perform various
tasks.
Hope that helps.

Subject: [freelists-midimag] key change
HI all,
I have a friend who uses mp3 backing tracks. She would like to be able to
change their keys.
Anyone know of any accessible phone app, or program on PC that could do
that, and is inexpensive?
She doesn't want to go to the trouble of learning to use a daw.
Thanks,
Ross.
