Well, I'll pick up where Ben left off regarding the H6. It is a good
recorder in the audio sense. But otherwise, unless a pretty much set it and
forget it setup is right for you it's probably going to be like sleeping
with a bear.
There's absolutely no feedback on anything. The massive menu structure seems
over-complicated to me. And it also seems nonsensical that the microphones,
if selected, are active as soon as you power up the unit, yet, the moment
you press the menu button the mics are turned off. Therefore you get no
feedback on any adjustment that is audible, such as the HPF setting, which
has about ten different frequencies.
Probably the best example of a deal breaker for me is turning phantom power
on and off. After pressing the menu button you have to flick the joystick
down to input and output, press it in to enter, flick down to phantom power,
press it in to enter, then you have on/off toggles for each individual input
and another for all. And if that's not enough you also have a 12, 24, or 48
volt selector.
So again, if a set it and forget it setup will work for you this could
potentially be a good recorder. If you want to get a better look at it, so

Hi,
I'm looking for an accessible field recorder that can record wav at 96kHz,
16/24-bit.
These two Zoom units look like they'll do the job, but is there any
accessibility support for the menus, like on the Olympus models?
Any and all advice and recommendations would be most welcome.
