We would like to hear what group members’ experiences of the MHA have been, and

I don’t have personal experience of the MHA myself, only because when I was
detained it was when I was still in Canada. I was in hospital quite a few times
in my late teens, but only sectioned (what we called ‘certified’) once or
twice. From what I’ve heard so far, it sounds like hospital there may have been
better than here.

I've a lot of experience with MHA having been in the revolving door for
about 10 years. Thankfully for me but maybe not so good for this forum
not recently- last time was about 7 years ago.
I have experience of most of the listed topics. I however have a big
meeting in an hour or so about my social care services (currently its
falling apart in a big way) so am going to struggle to write about my
MHA experiences today too.
I am a bit worried about upsetting people or scaring them- some of my
experiences have been quite extreme (eg prone restraint lasting days
with painful locks used as punishment, forced to take medication that
made me very ill and not listened to about it) or have involved abuse
from staff and occasionally patients. A lot I try not to talk about and
much I never really have (the usual thing of thinking people already
know) but is very relevant to this, I was thinking of replying to each
point in the list (I still need to read the word docs properly etc).
Anyway- my meeting is at 3:30pm so I need to concentrate on that right
now (currently 3pm)
