Deccan Conservation Foundation, Bangalore is seeking individuals who are
interested in working in northern Karnataka landscapes as a project
manager. The work will involve managing field activities in Koppal district
of Karnataka and travelling to Bangalore intermittently to work at the head
office of Deccan Conservation Foundation.
The work involves: (i) Conducting camera trap surveys in Koppal district.
(ii) Engaging with Forest department personnel and setting up collaborative
activities with them (iii) Managing a field station in Koppal, Karnataka
(iv) Grant writing, applying and managing funds (v) Help design
conservation activities and projects for the Koppal landscape.
Applicants should ideally have completed their Masters degree in fields
relating to environmental sciences or social sciences, although this is not
a necessity. Someone with a keen interest in working at the grass root
level on issues of wildlife conservation and human communities would be an
ideal candidate for this position. The applicant should be able to
communicate in Kannada and English. Having a valid driving license for a
two-wheeler and a four-wheeler will be a plus.
This position is salaried and all expenses on field will be borne by the
organization. The person will be guided by senior members of Deccan
Conservation Foundation and other collaborators.
