*Job Description:*
At present, we are looking for the persons, for our Kolkata office. who has
done his/her Masters in Environmental Science/Social Science/ any other
relevant discipline.
He/She will be involved in Documentation and Fact Finding survey in
the diverse field of environment including identification and documentation
of community-level issues/environmental and social damages occurred due to
coal-based thermal power plants; various mining projects and their impact
on environment; Coastal issues and implementation/non-implementation of
coastal regulations and impact on coastal communities and its environment;
Status of Forest conservation and conversion of forest land for other
non-forest purposes; implementation or non-implementation of Forest Rights
Act (FRA); and any other environmental, wildlife and biodiversity-related
matters, which might come from time to time; gap in existing Environmental
Impact Assessment (EIA) practices and its adverse impact on the environment
and Project Affected People
The main work area will be West Bengal, Odisha & Jharkhand; However, at
times he/she may need to go to other States as well.
The work involves a mix of field level data collection, desk research and
interaction with various project-affected communities as well.
3-4 years of experiences are required. people having a passion for dealing
with development related challenges are also welcome

*About LIFE*
Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment (LIFE) is a Delhi based
environmental law firm which is engaged in environmental advocacy and does
give assistance to the affected communities who are deprived from
environmental justice.
LIFE is fighting for environmental justice at National Green Tribunal (NGT)
through its Principle Bench in Delhi and all the other regional benches in
Kolkata, Pune, Chennai and Bhopal respectively.
LIFE is run by the renowned environmental Lawyer Mr. Ritwick Dutta
It comprises of a group of Lawyer and environmental scientists and/ or
social experts who together come to fight for environmental justice.
We do have regional offices in Kolkata and Pune as well, where the matters
related to respective zones are taken up.
