*AWS International Water Stewardship Standard (AWS Standard)* is a
globally-applicable framework for major water users to understand their
water use and impacts, and to work collaboratively and transparently for
sustainable water management by implementing responsible practices that
mitigate water risks (e.g., water scarcity), improve efficiency, and
address shared water challenges (e.g., drought, population growth, etc.).
It addresses the catchment water challenges as well as the risks and
opportunities, aiming at best practices in terms of – good water
governance, sustainable water balance, good water quality status, important
water quality areas, safe water sanitation, and hygiene for all (WASH).
Implementation of the AWS Standard encourages businesses, industries,
governments, and communities as well as civil society organizations to
adopt collaborative approaches to achieve better water use practices.
