God willing and the creek don't rise, we are going to count butterflies on
Saturday, August 4 for the 2018 Elizabethton, TN NABA Butterfly Count. The
event is open to all. We will meet at 9:00 AM in front of the Visitor Center
at Sycamore Shoals State Park, counting in the park and nearby properties until
lunch. Bring a picnic lunch, or there is fast food down the street if
necessary. For the afternoon we will carpool to various sites as we work our
way up Holston Mountain. As always, come prepared for changeable weather (sun
hat, rain gear, sweater...at least we aint got locusts). Close focusing
binoculars and cameras greatly enhance the experience, bring 'em if you got
'em. The North American Butterfly Association manages these counts and
requests a $3 fee per participant, correct change will be helpful, but don't
