Gary,
Thanks for the reply.  Not looking for space at the present time.  This class
would probably happen around the last part of January or first part of
February. This class will take probably a minimum of 6 hours and will be very
intensive and to be honest is a must for anyone that really wants to know the
intracacies of how to operate the WL2K system that we are proposing.  It will
put them in good stead to do whatever they need in the way of NORMAL use and
they will learn how to cope with the day to day problems. Lets face it we cant
be there 24/7 to operate the system for you even though we would come over if
you suffered a failure or major problem no matter when it was.

This course goes into the setup and use of all of the WL2K clients, how to use
the email portion of the system.  We also teach a very basic how to for radio
propagation. It is simple to master and is explained throughly by people that
understand the topic and have taught before.

Have a great holiday

P.S. I have asked Dave Smith to talk to you regarding MARS exercises. We will
set up an exercise for your guys using the MARS system (and maybe even include
RACES if you like) and you can have a hand in planning in implementing it.
Meaning you get to set the scenario.

Are you requesting use of space at MEMA?  I did not see that in your email.

At this time I will not have anyone avail to take the class due to staffing
schedules for the next few months.  I am a maxed out due to holidays and
vacation requests.  If any at all, dependent upon the day you have the
training, someone who might already be on duty, has interest and the acuity
level permits, may attend.  That’s about all I can think of this time.

Gary,

Sometime in january I want to put on a Winlink class. During the class the
following

topics will be discussed/taught:

1. What Winlink 2K is and what it isnt.

2. How it is best utilized

3. Requirements to use Winlink 2K

4. How to install Paclink and Airmail on YOUR computer or laptop

5. How test your installation (you will get to put your installation on the air
to test it)

6. Airmail integrated propagation tool

   a. setup

   b. using it

   c. what it shows and means

   d. how to chose a frequency to use

7. VI sounder resources and how to use them

We would be happy to include some or all of your watch officers in this class.
This would give them a good firm understanding of the processes involved in
using the WL2K system.

They do not have to he Ham radio operators to attend they just need a desire to
learn, I will make it pretty simple and will have enough assistance to provide
near one on one to the extent necessary.

Can you please identify those interested and let me know a number ASAP?  This
will allow me to plan.  I do expect about 6 -8 of my guys will be in attendance
for this class as well.

The only resources we will need will be a projector that interfaces to a
computer and whatever laptops your guys will need.

WOW I missed that.. glad you caught it.. and I agree 100% with the training
being in there.

by the way .. exactly what are your requirements  100, 200, 700 and 800 I am
reasonably shure about but what about 300/400 or COMML... do these enter into
it/.

And 2 weeks is insignificant.. past experience has shown me that HQ will take a
lot longer than that.

You know once we get your winlink station up and running you might want to
think about installing it in other critical infrastructure entities around the
state.  If you have an interoperability work group I would be glad to come put
on a dog and pony show for them in the future. Somewhere around here I have a
slide show just for that purpose.

We will also be going to several clubs in the near future and putting on a
similar show to recruit more members.
