Guys.. this is a pre-release view of what I think we might be releasing for the
inauguration.
If you have not already heard, Army MARS will have NO official place in the
planning nor the operational aspects of the inauguration. I don't know all of
the issues so it wont do any good to ask.
What I can tell you is that the CAM has already gone on record as saying that
Army MARS regions 1,2,3,4,5,6 should activate nets.
Pudge and I have discussed this and both of us think this is somewhat short
sighted but .. well it is not ours to decide

Maryland Army MARS will be activating the MARS station (AAN3EMD) located at the
Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) starting 0500Z 20 January through
0459Z 21 January 2009.
AAN3EMD will be monitoring the Fort Meade and DC Repeaters during the above
times, augmenting communications systems already in place at MEMA.
Additionally we will routinely check the WL2k servers for traffic for AAN3EMD.
Traffic for AAN3EMD should be passed by:
Voice on Fort Meade repeater
Olivia on Fort Meade repeater
Packet (and WL2k) on 148.650
During this time communications on the DC repeater will be restricted to
communications directly related to the inauguration. Only traffic of an
immediate/essential nature will be handled on this repeater.
SHARES will be also be activating during the inauguration so all ARMARS
Stations that have previously been issued a SHARES license should be checking
in to the SHARES nets occasionally on the inauguration day.
Region 3 Army MARS is expected to activate region wide nets during this time.
I have requested use of (Maryland) Navy MARS frequencies for use in passing
traffic.
This will help to keep things orderly and alleviate congestion on the voice
frequencies.
Air Force and Navy MARS have been requested to assist with both the deployment
teams as well as manning Region 3 nets during the above cited times.
