Hi John,

I'm sorry, but your implied request for a pay raise has been denied...Hi. As
we don't want you burned out until you have had your turn in the SMD barrell,
consider this alternative: parcel out the lists to others (especially if one
changed address must be entered individually into multiple lists). As admin
officer, I volunteer to maintain the MDC members list.

Of course, if you decline my request, I'll continue to pull down big bucks (and
little doe) with little-to-no effort...Hi.

73, Tony

Subject: [mdmars_staff] Changes to various List Serve accounts

  Good morning, all -

This is just a reminder and update regarding our 8 email lists.

There are several possible combinations of list members, such as someone is
on the Slant Tango list, the MDC list and the Region 3 list. But instead, they
might be on the Virginia list, the Tech list, the Region 3 list and the
Trimarsops list. With some 140 member stations, cross checking the content of
these lists is getting very interesting, to say the least.

The list members are found initially by email address, not by call sign. The
email address usually does not reflect the MARS call sign, so each one must be
looked up and compared with data on the Region 3 roster, checked for accuracy
and updated as needed. That does not include bounced messages, requests for
message posts or questions about email delivery, etc. Any time you have a
change, please let me know as soon as possible.

We periodically receive automated subscription requests from unknown
individuals. Either Jim or I screen these attempts, as all our lists are
"closed" and membership is by invitation only. We are currently working on one
situation where a person, who has identified themselves as a MARS station in
Michigan, attempted to join 7 of our 8 lists. This does not pose a security
issue at this time, and even if someone were allowed to join, they cannot post
messages without further intervention on our part. However, they can read our
traffic.

As a follow up to our staff meeting, the following changes have been
implemented to our various list servers. Please let me know if there are any
changes or corrections.

mdmarscus is a newly created list that contains our customer stations as well
as AAM3EMD, AAM3IMD, AAA3MD and AAM3MD. It has not been tested yet, and NO
messages are to be sent to this list until Jim has a chance to contact the
group and introduce the project. That should be happening in the near future.

  AAT3VM, NS3X@xxxxxxxxxxx, has been removed from mdmars_members and rgn3_mars.

  AAR3DJ, KE3HAY@xxxxxxxxx has been removed from mdmars_members, rgn3_tangos
and rgn3_mars

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

  73 for now,

  John AAR3CK / AAM3MD
