I'm having the same problem. When I went to the link, I entered the
password
Spunk sent me. It told me that was incorrect, so I went to reset the PW.
After I reset the PW I tried again. First with the new PW, then with the PW

Spunk sent me. again i was told PW was incorrect.

Spunkster; all;
I used my bookmarked linked to the forums; used the password Mr. Sparky
sent me privately to access first the library, then the specific area
where he posted the article. Had absolutely no problem. Maybe it was
because I used the cheaters way. I saved the email where Sparky sent the
the library password, and, used the copy, and, paste method to enter the
password.
Sparky;
the article on the MS. beta Toolkit for shared computers was
interesting; but I wish it went a little farther; having a feature which
would prevent limited users from installing anything without an
administrator's ok.

I have a copy of WinFax, which I have presently set to automatically
receive messages. My problem is that a couple of times someone has
called the phone line I use for faxing. No message is sent, but the
calls weren't canceled, and, I can't seem to get WinFax to allow me to
delete these "events." Does anyone (Orang;Sparky;whomever;) have an idea
on how I can get WinFax to let me delete these "events"?

Hi

While on the subject, how do I tell whether my
XP has been activated? I have a new PC (6 days
old :-). I downloaded all updates without any
prompts to activate first.

I read in the help files that there should be an
icon in the system tray to remind one to activate,
but I don't have one there. So, how do I know
whether it's been activated or not?

Thanks for any responses.

EllBee, I think Steve might be thinking of this message
which I posted:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mycomputerheadaches/message/21506
The tip I described in that message applies only to XP
installations that have already been activated previously.
However, if you are coming from an XP that is a pirated
version which has never been activated and now you want to
go legit, the article that you posted is an excellent one to
help a would-be XP-user activator. It should be copied by
everyone who might be considering activating their XP in the
future. Great contribution, EllBee.

I'm not sure how you tell for sure, but my experience
is that the OS bugs you every time you boot up until
you activate. Possibly, no news is good news.

The below is precisely what happened to me. Infact, I went back to the
pasword you had sent me, copied it and pasted it but I got the same
message - "Incorrect PW". Possibly some of the initial problems?

Take care and have a nice day.

Also, if it's not activated, Windows will warn you that you only have so
many days before Windows gets disabled if you do not activate it. Another
thing is most store-bought computers that came with Windows already
installed specially the name brands are already activated since they are
using an OEM version of WinXP which are versions that do not need
activation. The computer manufacturers gets a license for each of the OEM
they sell I think.

The limited users are not supposed to be able to install anything. Are the
limited users in your PC able to install?
Did you set their permissions or are the limited users using their default

I'm using the settings that XP provides. Is there something that I don't
know about that will let me further limit the limited accounts? BTW
getting back to my WinFax problem, I'm using WinFax pro 10.02 for XP.
I've glanced at the article you linked me to from Symantec, and, I'm
going to try it tomorrow.

I'm having the same problem. When I went to the link, I entered the=
 password
Spunk sent me. It told me that was incorrect, so I went to reset the PW.

I have the same problem when I click on your link. But I was able to
read the tutorial by going the long route.

By the way, really great site! All of the tips in one place... I don't
have to store MCH emails anymore!

Thanks, Doc. I was hoping to do that. I just added several more articles.
One that might be interest to everyone is Jotti's Malware Scan article
found in the Malware Issues Forum and in the Anti-Malware thread. I won't
give any more links...LOL..I get in trouble when I do. Do read the
announcements if you are just a new member please. It gets rid of a lot of
confusion. I am also open to suggestions, specially for the Forum
Bookmarks. Mike, would you like to write up something about your antivirus
website and your newsletter? We can add them there. I also told Martha to
write up something about her great website. I like them both. Email them to
me when you are done. :)

Is the WinFax Pro the Basic Edition?

Regarding limiting limited user accounts, what is it that limited user
accounts holders are doing that you want to restrict further? What is it
that they do that you don't like them doing?

I'm using WinFax pro 10.02 for XP.

Hi there

My PC has had an error (again)....

It says something about BUS speed or computer speed exceeding
manufacturers settings etc... (or something)....

http://temp.kwister.com/1.bmp

Questions :-

In above pic - Is it normal to have 2-3 "USB ROOT HUB" things showing ?

(on my screen its ok - But saving to pic - pic not good quality ??)

Anyway - Thats q 1.

2) How can I REDUCE the speed at which my PC processes / USB connects
etc - To be under the manufacturers settings ?

(if thats the prob..)

I forgot to save the page / URL...

2) SEPERATE....

Im on Win XP

How do I create a ram-drive ?

(I want as fewe hardware processes going on as possible - If I have a
ram-drive, No hard-disk interaction is necessary - with temp file
access etc...)

( Ive got loads of RAM )

Spunkster;
I don't understand what you are asking about Winfax. The edition I have
proclaims itself to be WinFax Pro 10.02 for XP. I'm running XP home.
What I like to restrict the limited accounts from doing is installing
games and such they download from Yahoo, and, the like, and, from CDs. I
don't mind them using the peer to peer network I belong to for
music-with in reason, or, other materials. It's just that it bothers me
that they install things like GTA; Sniper; and, the like without
consulting me.
