As far as the tests are concerned, I suggest giving one old Meitzav test as a mipui at the beginning of the year and then use various tasks of Meitzavim for intensive preparation work. I would vote for the test of תשע"ג as a mock exam for the 5th grade. Last year's test was obnoxious. However, I would use it for practicing HOT questions. In my school every teacher could photocopy not more than 400 pages a month last year. Just enough to copy the Meitzav exam for 1 class. I think the principals of the Meitzav schools should give special conditions for photocopying to English teachers. I agree that the workshop must be ASAP since our Meitzav is very early. I think 2 exams between the pretest and final may be too much since many teachers complain that they lose precious teaching time by giving too many exams. I think the school needs to decide how many exams should be given during the intervention stage. In addition, some of the schools may use the 5th grade exams for the lower level as part of their intervention. Should the pre-test be תשעג or תשע"ד? I'll send the Powerpoint to everyone early next week. Pat has asked me to forward the attached to you for ideas.. Please send me the other ideas you all discussed in our Special Interest Groups. I will put everything together and then make up some kind of "tips for madrichot" file. Please don't forget to send me the dates for your hishtalmuyot that you are leading. I am making a special "Hishtalmuyot" calendar which will give us a clear picture of what's going on where. Please let me know if you need me to send the lists of coordinators for JH and High. I have made a few changes in the last couple of days based on information you have sent me.
