I recommend using a apple keyoard, I had a PC keyboard connected to my mac mini and it made the system slower and some things didn't work, like pressing C to boot from cd and I couldn't use it to reset the pram etc. Now I have a apple keyboard and it's faster and I can control the mac at startup.
If you do use a windows keyboard, the windows key will be cmd and the alt key will e the option key (that's what it says in the instructions for my mac mini.)
