Although Microsoft, itself, is not accessible on the Mac, you can read Microsoft documents, spreadsheets, and databases using Mac software;and, you can create Windows-friendly documents, spreadsheets, etc., using Mac software. Perhaps that's what the person at the Apple store was trying to say, but got the terminology incorrectly. If you work in an office setting you can easily send documents back and forth to Windows users that both you and they can read with no problems. So, while Microsoft Office is not accessible, it doesn't mean what you might think. I hope this helps.
