[macvoiceover] copying mp3 files into itunes confusion

Hi All,
I thought I could copy over 400 mp3 files from my external hard drive, that is
currently connected to my Mac via a USB cable, into iTunes. I have the two
check boxes checked under the Advanced area of iTunes preferences, but when I
select all files with command+a, press command+c to copy, switch to iTunes and
then press command+v to paste, either nothing happens or only one of the 400
mp3 files appears in the songs area.
What am I doing wrong?
