For the gui utility, yes, you would need an osx machine (likely you could copy the utility to your standard machine that is not a server, but I've not tried this) However, as mentioned before, if you need to configure more than the standard things that ssh gives you access to, then you're probably changing things you shouldn't be modifying in a server environment, but of course, if they're your machines, and you know what you're doing, then have at it. *grin*

Hi Travis
Wouldn't the client machineneed to run OS X Server as well to have access to this GUI configuration utility? Or is there a place you can download it from Apple?Having access to OS X server may not always be possible if this is required, especially if you're not using your own machine at the time.

For normal maintenance tasks, you shouldn't need voiceover, just ssh into the machines in question, and treat them like any normal unix server, you can configure apache, any cgi scripts, even firewall settings, all via terminal applications. Failing that, if you aren't well versed in unix shell syntax, and still wish to operate your machines, There is a utility that comes with the osx server that allows you to configure remote machines, and you can use that if necessary. I suggest the ssh method though, as on a server machine, you shouldn't be mucking about with standard user-level settings anyhow which really is the only reason you should need full gui access to the machines.

The osx server is the same os as the osx you use on your regular mac, so yes, vo will work with them.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
