[macvoiceover] Of knowing what is selected and such

Greetings, friends, and may this new year be a grand one for all of us!
I have a situation where I need to noncontiguously select items from within a
large list of options. Selecting them isn't the problem. What I am wondering
is how to make VO tell me what items within the list are currently selected. I
have thus far been unsuccessful in finding out how to accomplish this seemingly
easy task.
Whoever can give me the answer gets an extra "Happy new year" wish all the way
from Austria! :)
