I am not conversant with either midi editing or the Drummer.
The Drummer should be able to do what you want there, I seem to recall being
able to set how many bars you want a region to play for, perhaps in the track
contents interact with the track region and you will have options to move the
left and right borders of the region, or loop it.
this is done by pressing ctrl opt cmd and the accent keys at the same time then
using the arrows or vo and arrows to alter the region. Then hit exit key to
leave that function.
Go to Keiths site, i can work this thing' and under Logic or audio, he has som
good introductory material.

Hello Tuscia,
Thank you so much for your reply. I will have a look at that to see if I can
make it work.
Another question though… Is it possible to resize regions? I just tried
adding a track with a virtual drummer, And it played along with me very
nicely until it decided to stop for no obvious reason. I see that logic
automatically divided the drummer's performance into two separate regions,
and I guess what I'm trying to do is for the second region to become longer
so that it keeps on accompanying the piano track, if that makes sense… also
is there an accessible way to edit midi regions? What do I do if I want to
change something in the virtual drummer's performance?
This whole thing is so entertaining to me! Certainly refreshing after
practicing Rachmaninoff preludes all day…

Automation is accessible in the Mix Create Automation menu.
When you select to create one automation point for vol, pan, sends there is
a gradual change from the previous automation point.
when you select two automation points there is an immediate change.
at the start of a track I select two points.
Before selecting to insert an automation point I adjust the settings in the
track header.
After selecting an automation point you are now in the automation window and
press 'a' to return to the header.
while listening to the song I simply press spacebar to stop at that location
then make my selection. If I don't like that selection I simply undo it. You
can also remove all automation points from a chosen track.
This works for both midi and audio tracks.

Hello all,
a few months ago I bought a Yamaha Avant Grand hybrid piano just for
practicing at night or early in the Morning when I can’t use my regular
Bösendorfer, and the other day I realized it had midi in and out
connectors. In the middle of concerts etc it’s always fun for me to work on
random projects, so I bought a USB midi interface, and also purchased Logic
Pro X from the Apple store as well as a very nice convolution Reverb plugin
that’s often used in classical music recordings, called Altiverb. I’m using
all of this with my 11 inch Macbook air, with an I7 processor and 8GB RAM.
For the time being I don’t even know exactly what I’m doing with this other
than trying to learn Logic, but I have a nice grand piano, the hybrid
piano, 4 microphones and an Apogee Quartet to try and make some kind of
music :). So now here come my questions:
1. Is it possible to accurately edit regions in Logic? Meaning can I cut
and paste audio from one place to another being very precise and using
crossfades to make things stick together properly?
2. How do I move and resize regions using VoiceOver?
3. How about third-party plugins such as Altiverb? It seems like it’s not
accessible, when I use both the VST plugin and the Audio Unit. Any
suggestions?
4. Is it possible to use automation in an accessible way?
5. On other DAWs i’ve used before I could always see a master track. Where
is that in Logic?
I’m sorry in advance for asking so many things. Thanks everyone!
