I'll check the emacs web site a bit more thoroughly, as I've heard nothing but good things about it buth from a Linux perspective, as well as from that of an OSX one.

Thanks, Jude for the link. I appreciate it.

Chris.

This is something I too have wondered. I do have the most recent version of IWorks, but I'll admit I've not really dived into it very heavily. I sort of know how to menipulate text and such on the mac, but it's still a little out of my comfort zone, eing I've coming from a Windows background. So, I am just curious if there are any good resources out there that might help me with learning to edit/proof read and format files.

Any and all help or resources text or audio based would be very much welcomed.

Chris.

Subject: [macvoiceover] Formatting documents?

Hi everyone,

I've been on vacation mode on this list since the end of January. I spent the month of February at Leader Dogs in Rochester Michigan training with my guide dog, Joey. I've been a cane user for 26 years now, and decided to see if a guide dog might enhance my life... don't ask how it's going! LOL

I am club secretary for the Toastmaster club I belong to. As such, I need to take meeting minutes. I've been using my laptop with Windows 7 to do this, but am finding Windows slow and sluggish surprise, surprise! LOL

I want to use my Mac to do the minutes, but so far, am not able to figure out a way to get font, alignment and style information using VO. I'm having a bit of success using Pages, but, is there a way to get VO to read the font size, alignment, i.e. distance from left margin, and, style information, i.e. heading 1, heading 2, etc.?

I've tried Pages, Open Office, Nissus Writer, and Text Edit, but can't find a way to gather this pertinent information.

What are you folks using for word processing? How are you handling document formatting?

Thanks for any and all help!

Best,

Russell>
