Also, pressing VO+c will read the header for the column you are in.
I am finally discovering all the items in the help menus, using VO+hh.

Initially it did not name the column when I set it to 1, but after checking and
experimenting it now does.
When I set the header row number to 2 it now reads the name of the column when
moving left or right but not when moving up or down.
Thanks as I also wanted this information when moving from one column to another
without having to go back up to the top of the column to check which column I
am in.

If you set your header count to 1, VO should read the contents of the first
cell in each column as you arrow left and right. To set the header row or
column count,
go to the menu bar, activate the table menu.
Scroll down the the head rows sub menu,
arrow right to open the sub-menu.
Click on the number of header rows you want. I generally use 1.
Same thing for header columns, then VO should read the contents of the first
cell in a row as you arrow up and down.

This also works in Pages, except you don’t have a table menu. Access it through
the formatter, in the tables section. There are pop up menus in that section
for header columns and rows.

Cheers,

Ian
