Hi everyone,
I went to Best Buy yesterday and purchased a new Printer/scanner/copier/Fax.
It’s a Canon MF217W. It has a touch screen in the front, but the salesperson
assured me that I would be able to set up the unit without having to use the
touch screen and display. Well, I’m having all sorts of troubles. I installed
all necessary printer and scanner and Fax drivers, as far as I know, but no
luck getting it to print or scan. When I try to print a test page from the
printer utility in System preferences, the job just sits there and never
finishes… no error message or anything. When I try to scan, I receive error
code 2100009, with a message that the scanner is in sleep mode.
When I turn the power on, the unit beeps quickly 6 or 7 times.
This is a laser printer, and I did take out the toner cartridge and removed the
foam and cardboard that was around it.
I don’t expect that anyone will know exactly what’s going on. I’ll most likely
have to wait for sighted assistance.
I was just wondering if anyone on this list has had any experience with this
model and if it is possible to use it successfully without the touch screen and
display.
I did tell the salesperson that I would be bringing the unit back if what he
was telling me wasn’t, in fact true! :)
Thanks,
Russell>
