The Braille Edge 40 definitely has both dot 7 and dot 8 keys. I have seen the
display, though I do not own one.

Passwords are an interesting issue. Grade II Braille still translates whilst in
password fields. Dots 5 6 before a letter signifies lower-case. Dots 5 6
followed by dot 6 followed by the letter signifies upper-case letter without
the letter translating in to its grade II equivalent (something that may be
happening to you currently). No input for one second, or pressing the space bar
activates grade II translation of what is in the text buffer. Backspace /
delete also activates the translation of the text buffer before delete starts.

If you press dots 1 3 chord (with space bar), you place iOS in to keyboard help
mode. Now, iOS will announce what you press rather than entering it. Dots 1 2
chord ends keyboard help mode.
